Meet Pastor Wesley Givens
Pastor Wesley Givens was born and raised in Seminole, Alabama, and has deep roots in Seminole Baptist Church. His family began attending the church in 2000, and it was there—at the age of 10—that God began working in his heart in a powerful way. In November of 2001, after hearing a message on surrendering one’s life to God, Wesley realized his need for salvation and received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour.
At the age of 14, Pastor Wesley sensed God’s call on his life to preach through
God dealing with him through different sermons. Throughout his middle school and high school years, he was actively involved in the youth ministry, participating in youth camps, “popcorn preaching,” men’s preaching, and street preaching. After graduating high school in 2008, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Although he knew God had called him to preach, he did not fully submit his life at that time and instead pursued the things of this world.
In his early twenties, Pastor Wesley was involved in a serious single‑vehicle accident—one that he should not have survived by human standards. God used that moment to get his attention and remind him of his purpose. He recommitted himself to serving the Lord and began faithfully attending a local Baptist church until he was deployed with the Air Force in October 2013.
After returning from deployment in 2014, Pastor Wesley fully submitted in 2016 to God’s will and began serving as a youth pastor. During this season, he met his wife, Samantha, and they were married in October of 2016. Not long after, God began placing Seminole Baptist Church—the church where he was saved, baptized, and raised in—back on their hearts.
In 2017, Wesley and Samantha were blessed with their first son, Weylyn, and soon after moved back to Seminole Baptist Church. In 2020, the Lord blessed their family with two more children, Walker and Gentry. That same year, when the pastor position became available, God once again confirmed His calling on Wesley’s life. Through prayer, Bible reading, and seeking God’s direction, Pastor Wesley submitted in obedience and applied for the position.
In November 2021, Pastor Wesley Givens was voted in as Pastor of Seminole Baptist Church. He is passionate about preaching the Word of God, shepherding people with biblical truth, and faithfully serving the church and community God has placed him in.
